ChatGPT answers, unedited
"best software for a small agency to manage linkedin posting, engagement inbox, and client reporting on a budget?", asked on ChatGPT about once a day from the United States. The last 22 answers, newest first, exactly as given: the raw data behind the Social Media Management live demo.
Week of 24th to 30th Aug 2026 (in progress)
If LinkedIn is the main channel and youβre a small agency, Iβd optimize for three things: easy publishing, a genuinely usable engagement inbox, and client-ready reportingβwithout paying enterprise prices.
My shortlist
| Tool | Best for | Posting | Engagement inbox | Client reporting | Budget fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SocialPilot | π Best agency value | Excellent | Good | Excellent | $$$ |
| Agorapulse | π Best inbox | Excellent | Excellent | Excellent | $$β$$$ |
| Metricool | π Best analytics/value | Excellent | Good | Excellent | $$ |
| Sendible | White-label agency work | Excellent | Good | Excellent | $$ |
| Buffer | Cheapest/simple setup | Excellent | Weak for agency use | Good | $ |
Current 2026 comparisons consistently put SocialPilot among the strongest budget choices for agencies, while Agorapulse stands out for inbox/community management and Metricool for analytics value. www.eclincher.com
1. SocialPilot β my pick for a small agency
Best overall if you're managing multiple clients.
Why I like it:
- Multi-client/account management
- LinkedIn publishing and scheduling
- Approval workflows
- Client-facing/white-label reporting on agency-oriented plans
- Strong price-to-account ratio
- Team collaboration without immediately jumping to enterprise pricing
The big compromise is the engagement inbox: it's good, but I wouldn't choose SocialPilot primarily because of its inbox. Independent 2026 comparisons specifically call out its agency value while noting that its engagement functionality is weaker than Agorapulse. www.cloudcampaign.comwww.eclincher.com
Best if: your agency spends more time publishing + reporting than handling hundreds of comments/messages.
2. Agorapulse β best if engagement is central
If by "engagement inbox" you mean your team needs to live inside a shared inbox, I'd seriously consider this over SocialPilot.
It has a strong unified inbox, assignments, moderation, and collaboration features, alongside publishing and reporting. That's why it repeatedly comes out as the strongest inbox-oriented agency option. www.eclincher.comwww.cloudcampaign.com
Downside: pricing gets less "budget" once you have several users/clients.
Best if: you're managing comments, mentions and messages as a real service, rather than just scheduling posts.
3. Metricool β best reporting/value combination
This is the one I'd demo if client reporting is particularly important.
Metricool is known for strong analytics at a relatively low price, and its paid tiers are much more approachable than Sprout Social. Current 2026 comparisons put it among the strongest budget analytics options. www.eclincher.cominstantdm.com
Best if: clients constantly ask, "How did LinkedIn perform this month?" and you want attractive reports without paying Sprout-level prices.
4. Sendible β underrated agency option
Sendible is worth looking at if white-label/client reporting is important. It's explicitly positioned around agencies and client dashboards/reporting, with pricing that starts much lower than the enterprise platforms. www.eclincher.com
I'd put it behind SocialPilot for your use case unless you particularly value the agency/client-reporting workflow.
5. Buffer β cheapest/simple option
Buffer is fantastic if your requirements are essentially:
Create β schedule β publish β basic analytics.
Its per-channel pricing makes the entry cost very low, and it's exceptionally easy to use. But once shared engagement inbox + multiple clients + agency reporting become important, I'd move up to SocialPilot/Agorapulse/Metricool. Current comparisons similarly characterize Buffer as the simple, inexpensive option rather than the strongest full agency platform. www.eclincher.com
What I'd actually choose
For a small LinkedIn-focused agency, I'd rank them:
π₯ SocialPilot β best overall agency economics
π₯ Agorapulse β best if inbox/engagement is a major part of the service
π₯ Metricool β best if reporting/analytics is the differentiator
4. Sendible β best if white-label reporting/client presentation matters
5. Buffer β best if keeping costs extremely low matters more than inbox functionality
I wouldn't buy Sprout Social for a budget-conscious small agency. Its analytics and Smart Inbox are excellent, but the per-seat pricing makes it difficult to justify unless you're selling sophisticated analytics/listening to clients. www.cloudcampaign.comwww.eclincher.com
One important LinkedIn caveat
If you're managing personal LinkedIn profiles for clients/founders, rather than just company Pages, I'd make that a deciding factor. LinkedIn's profile publishing/engagement capabilities can differ materially between platforms, so I'd test the exact workflow you need before signing an annual contract.
If you tell me (1) number of clients, (2) number of LinkedIn profiles/pages per client, (3) whether you need personal profiles or company Pages, and (4) your monthly budget, I can narrow this to the cheapest 2β3 setups and calculate the actual monthly cost.

For a small agency managing LinkedIn posting + engagement inbox + client reporting on a budget, Iβd prioritize tools that handle multiple clients, approvals, shared inbox, and white-label reports rather than just scheduling. Agency-focused platforms vary a lot: some are cheap schedulers, while others are built around client delivery workflows. Eclincher PostPlanify
Here are the best fits:
| Tool | Best for | Approx. budget fit | Strengths | Weaknesses |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SocialPilot | Small agencies managing many accounts | $β | Affordable scheduling, team workflows, reporting, lots of account capacity | Inbox/engagement is less robust than premium tools |
| Agorapulse | Agencies where replying to comments/DMs matters | $$$ | Excellent unified inbox, assignments, approval workflows, CRM-like engagement tracking | More expensive as your team grows |
| Buffer | Very small LinkedIn-focused teams | $ | Simple, easy, inexpensive | Too light for serious client reporting/inbox management |
| Metricool | Budget analytics + scheduling | $β$$ | Good reporting value, easy client dashboards | Less agency-oriented inbox workflow |
| Sprout Social | Larger agencies with premium clients | $$$$ | Excellent reporting, inbox, listening, governance | Usually too expensive for a small shop |
Eclincher PostPlanify## My shortlist for a small LinkedIn agency
1. Best overall value: SocialPilot
Good if you have something like 5β30 clients and your main workflow is:
- Create LinkedIn posts
- Schedule them
- Get approvals
- Send monthly reports
It gives you the agency basics without jumping into enterprise pricing. Eclincher
2. Best if client reporting is your differentiator: Sendible
Pick this if clients care about:
- Branded reports
- Client approval flows
- Looking professional during monthly reviews
Itβs designed around agencies delivering social media as a service. PostPlanify
3. Best if engagement is the service: Agorapulse
If your agency actually manages:
- LinkedIn comments
- Messages
- Prospect replies
- Community engagement
then the inbox matters more than scheduling. Agorapulse is one of the stronger options for this workflow. PostPlanify
A practical budget stack
For a small agency, Iβd avoid paying for an expensive all-in-one platform too early.
Option A β lean agency ($50β150/mo)
- SocialPilot or Metricool β scheduling + reports
- Native LinkedIn inbox β occasional engagement handling
- Google Looker Studio β custom reporting
Option B β growing agency ($150β300/mo)
- Sendible or Agorapulse
- Client approval workflow
- Monthly automated reports
- Shared team inbox
Option C β LinkedIn personal-brand agency
If you manage founders/executives rather than company pages, look at LinkedIn-specific tools too. The workflow is different because youβre managing personal profiles, not just company pages. MagicPost
What Iβd choose
- 1β5 clients: Buffer/Metricool/SocialPilot
- 5β20 clients: SocialPilot or Sendible
- 20+ clients or heavy engagement: Agorapulse
- High-ticket clients demanding polished dashboards: Sprout Social
One important question: are you managing LinkedIn company pages, founder/personal profiles, or both? The best tool changes quite a bit because LinkedIn personal profile automation has different limitations.

If your agency is small and budget-conscious, Iβd narrow it to SocialPilot, Metricool, and Agorapulse. The important wrinkle is that LinkedInβs inbox capabilities differ: most tools can handle Company Page comments/mentions, but LinkedIn DMs are much more restricted.
My picks
| Tool | Best for | LinkedIn posting | LinkedIn engagement inbox | Client reporting | Budget fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| socialpilot.co | π Best overall agency value | β | β Comments + mentions | β White-label | Excellent |
| metricool.com | π Best analytics/value | β | β Comments + mentions | β PDF/PPT + agency reports | Excellent |
| agorapulse.com | π Best engagement workflow | β | β Comments + mentions | β Excellent | Fair |
| buffer.com | Cheapest/simple posting | β | β οΈ Less capable | β | Excellent |
| sendible.com | White-label agency operation | β | β | β Excellent | Good |
1. SocialPilot β my choice for a small agency
This is probably where I'd start.
SocialPilot is unusually well matched to the agency use case: multiple client accounts, approvals, scheduling, analytics, automated reports, and a unified inbox. Its LinkedIn integration specifically supports comments and mentions, and it offers white-label reporting. SocialPilot SocialPilot
The big limitation: LinkedIn DMs aren't supported in its inbox. That's an API limitation rather than something I'd consider a flaw unique to SocialPilot. SocialPilot Help
Current published comparisons put its entry pricing around $30/month, making it one of the cheapest serious agency platforms. Buffer Cloud Campaign
Best if: you manage perhaps 3β15 clients and want one inexpensive system for posting + comments + reporting.
2. Metricool β best if reporting is the priority
I'd choose Metricool over SocialPilot if your clients care heavily about analytics and proving results.
Its agency reporting supports customizable templates, PDF/PPT reports, Looker Studio, and scaling to multiple brands. Its Starter plan currently begins around $25/month, with higher tiers expanding brand capacity. Metricool
Its inbox can handle LinkedIn comments and mentions on both company and personal profiles, but not LinkedIn private messages. Metricool Help Center
That's actually a pretty compelling combination for a LinkedIn-focused agency.
Best if: your monthly client report is a major deliverable and you want strong analytics without paying enterprise prices.
3. Agorapulse β best inbox, but harder to justify on a budget
If engagement/community management is the core of what you sell, Agorapulse is the better product.
It has a genuinely mature inbox with assignments, saved replies, moderation, mentions, comments and team workflows. Its LinkedIn integration handles comments and mentions, and it can also monitor LinkedIn ad comments on appropriate plans. Agorapulse Agorapulse
The problem is cost. Current pricing is roughly $79β$119+ per user/month depending on plan/billing, so it gets expensive much faster than SocialPilot or Metricool. Agorapulse
Best if: you're actually selling community management rather than merely checking comments once a day.
What I'd actually buy
For a 2β5 person boutique agency, I'd rank them:
- SocialPilot β best overall value
- Metricool β best reporting/analytics
- Agorapulse β best inbox, but only worth the premium if engagement is substantial
- Sendible β worth considering if polished white-label client portals are particularly important
- Buffer β great scheduler, but I'd pick SocialPilot/Metricool when inbox + agency reporting are requirements
One important distinction: if by "engagement inbox" you mean LinkedIn DMs, rather than comments/mentions on client posts, don't choose based on the marketing claim of "unified inbox." LinkedIn private messaging support is substantially more limited. Metricool explicitly says LinkedIn private messages aren't supported, and SocialPilot likewise says LinkedIn DMs aren't supported in its inbox. Metricool Help Center SocialPilot Help
Bottom line: I'd trial SocialPilot first, with Metricool as the alternative if client reporting is more important than inbox workflow.
If you tell me roughly how many clients + LinkedIn profiles you manage (e.g. 5 clients / 8 profiles), I can work out the actual monthly cost of SocialPilot vs Metricool vs Agorapulse and tell you which one gives you the most margin.

For a small agency managing LinkedIn for multiple clients, Iβd narrow it to Metricool, Agorapulse, and SocialPilot. The key issue is that βcheap schedulerβ and βgood agency tool with an engagement inbox + client reportingβ are very different things.
My ranking
| Tool | Best for | LinkedIn posting | Engagement/inbox | Client reporting | Budget |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metricool | π Best overall value | β | β οΈ Good, but less inbox-centric | β Excellent | $20β53+/mo |
| SocialPilot | π Budget agency | β | β | β | ~$30+/mo |
| Agorapulse | π Best inbox | β | β Excellent | β Excellent | $79/user/mo annual |
| Sendible | White-label agency reporting | β | β | β Excellent | ~$29+/mo |
| Buffer | Simplest/cheapest publishing | β | β οΈ | β οΈ | From $6/channel |
1. Metricool β my pick for most small agencies
If your priority is lots of clients without blowing up your software budget, this is where I'd start.
Metricool's current plans support LinkedIn, PDF/PPT reporting, automated reports, analytics, competitor analysis, andβon Advancedβteam/client management, roles, approvals, customizable report templates and Looker Studio. Its Advanced plan starts around $53/month for up to 15 brands, with higher tiers going to 25 and 50 brands. metricool.com
Why I like it:
- Very good cost per client
- Strong reporting
- LinkedIn publishing
- Client/brand management at the higher tier
- Automated reporting
- Good analytics/competitor data
Weakness: If your agency lives in the LinkedIn inbox all day, Metricool isn't my first choice. It's more analytics/reporting-oriented than inbox-oriented.
Best fit: 5β30 clients where reporting and scheduling matter more than intensive community management.
2. SocialPilot β best cheap agency-oriented option
I'd seriously test SocialPilot if you're trying to keep the entire stack around $30β100/month.
It's specifically positioned as a budget-conscious agency solution, with bulk scheduling, multiple accounts, team workflows and reporting. Current comparisons put its entry pricing around $30/month. www.eclincher.com
Best fit: An agency primarily doing:
create β approve β schedule β publish β monthly report
rather than:
publish β monitor dozens of conversations β assign replies β analyze sentiment β report.
3. Agorapulse β best if engagement is really important
If by βengagement inboxβ you mean your team needs to actively monitor and respond to LinkedIn comments/messages, I'd pay the extra money for Agorapulse.
Its unified inbox is the standout feature, alongside publishing and reporting. The Standard plan is currently $79/user/month when billed annually ($99 monthly), supporting 10 social profiles; Professional is $119/user/month annually. www.agorapulse.comwww.agorapulse.com
It also supports inbox assignments, saved replies, moderation, labels, and more as you move up the plans. www.agorapulse.comwww.agorapulse.com
Best fit: 3β10 clients where community management is a meaningful part of the service.
Downside: The per-user pricing gets painful for a small agency.
4. Sendible β worth considering for client-facing agencies
Sendible is interesting if client reporting and agency presentation are more important than having the absolute best inbox.
It's consistently positioned as an agency-focused platform, particularly around white-label reporting/client management, and current comparisons put entry pricing around $29/month. www.eclincher.com
I'd put it behind Metricool for your particular use case unless white-labeling is a major requirement.
5. Buffer β great scheduler, not my first agency choice
Buffer is attractive because it's inexpensive and simpleβpaid publishing starts at $6/channel/month, and its Team plan is around $12/channel/month. buffer.com
But once you need client reporting + serious engagement management, you're moving beyond Buffer's sweet spot.
I'd use it for a freelancer or tiny agency doing straightforward LinkedIn publishing, not as the core platform for a growing client-service operation.
What I'd actually do
If I were running a 5β15 client LinkedIn agency on a budget, I'd choose:
Metricool Advanced β default choice
You get a surprisingly capable agency stack without paying a huge per-seat fee. The current Advanced tier includes team/client management, approvals, customizable reporting and up to 15 brands at $53/month, with larger brand tiers available. metricool.combuffer.com
If engagement/inbox is 30β50%+ of the work:
Agorapulse β better choice
The premium is justified by the unified inbox and team engagement workflow. www.agorapulse.com
If absolute lowest cost is the priority:
SocialPilot β test first.
One important LinkedIn caveat
Don't evaluate these purely on βdoes it post to LinkedIn?β Your agency workflow should test LinkedIn profile vs. company-page support, comments/mentions, DMs where applicable, approvals, multiple clients, permissions, and exactly what gets included in the client report. Those details are where inexpensive schedulers can become frustrating.
My short answer:
π₯ Metricool = best value
π₯ Agorapulse = best engagement/inbox
π₯ SocialPilot = best budget agency option
Sendible = best if white-label/client presentation matters
Buffer = best if you mostly just need publishing
If you tell me roughly how many clients/accounts you manage (e.g. 5, 10, 25) and whether you're managing LinkedIn company pages, personal profiles, or both, I can calculate the cheapest setup for each and tell you which one I'd buy.

If LinkedIn is the main channel and youβre a small agency trying to keep software costs down, Iβd shortlist Metricool, SocialPilot, and Bufferβwith Metricool as my default pick.

π₯ Best overall: Metricool
This is where I'd start.
Metricool supports LinkedIn publishing, comments/DM management, analytics, client/team management, approvals, and automated PDF/PPT reports. Its current U.S. pricing shows Starter from $25/month, with Advanced from $67/month and substantially more agency functionality. metricool.com
Why I like it for a small agency:
- Strong reporting for the money
- Automated client reports
- LinkedIn included
- Manage multiple brands
- Unified messages/comments
- Client/team permissions and approvals on Advanced
- Doesn't force you into expensive per-user pricing
Best if: you have ~3β15 clients and want one affordable system rather than assembling several tools.
π₯ Best agency-focused budget option: SocialPilot
SocialPilot is arguably the strongest agency-first value. Current comparisons put its entry pricing around $30/month, with higher tiers adding white-label reporting, client approvals, and more agency capabilities. www.eclincher.com
The big advantage is that it was designed around multiple clients/accounts, rather than being primarily a creator scheduler that later added agency features.
I'd choose it over Metricool if:
- You have lots of client accounts
- Client approvals are important
- White-label reporting matters
- You expect the agency to grow
π₯ Best dead-simple option: Buffer
Buffer has gotten much more interesting for agencies. Its agency offering includes engagement inbox, analytics, unlimited team members, access levels and approval workflows, with pricing based on channels rather than seats. Its current agency page lists $36/month for 3 channels on Team. buffer.com
The catch is reporting and multi-client management aren't as deep as Metricool/SocialPilot.
Choose Buffer if: your agency mostly needs "write β approve β schedule β respond β basic report" without a complicated system.
π Best inbox: Agorapulse
If the engagement inbox is the most important part of your workflow, Agorapulse is excellent. Its unified inbox is particularly strong for managing comments, messages, moderation and approvals. The downside is price: current pricing is roughly $79/user/month annually at the entry paid tier, making it much harder to justify for a tiny agency. www.eclincher.com
I'd only pay for it if engagement volume is genuinely causing operational problems.
What I'd actually buy
1β5 clients:
β Buffer if you want maximum simplicity
β Metricool if reporting matters
5β15 clients:
β Metricool Advanced is probably the sweet spot.
15+ clients / agency growing quickly:
β SocialPilot
Engagement/community management is your core service:
β Agorapulse
You need beautiful white-label client reporting:
β SocialPilot or Sendible
Sendible is particularly agency-oriented, with client dashboards and white-label capabilities, but I'd put it behind Metricool/SocialPilot for a budget-conscious LinkedIn-focused shop. www.eclincher.com
One important LinkedIn caveat
I'd prioritize tools that use LinkedIn's official integrations rather than anything promising aggressive automated LinkedIn engagement or connection activity. You want reliable publishing, legitimate inbox access, and analyticsβnot a tool that could put a client's LinkedIn account at risk.
My pick for your use case: Metricool. It gives you the best combination of LinkedIn + posting + inbox + client reporting + agency features without immediately turning software into a major line item. metricool.com
If you tell me how many clients, how many LinkedIn profiles per client, and whether you're managing personal profiles vs. company pages, I can narrow this down to the cheapest setup that will actually work.

For a small LinkedIn-focused agency, Iβd avoid the big enterprise suites first. You usually need four things:
- Schedule posts across multiple clients
- Manage engagement/comments/inbox
- Get approval workflows
- Generate client-friendly reports
The best budget options are:
| Tool | Best for | Approx. budget fit | Strengths | Weaknesses |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SocialPilot | Best overall budget agency pick | $ | Scheduling, client approvals, bulk posting, reports | Inbox/analytics are less advanced than premium tools |
| Metricool | Reporting-heavy agencies | $β$$ | Excellent dashboards, analytics, client reporting | Engagement workflow is not as strong |
| Agorapulse | Agencies where inbox matters | $$ | Great unified inbox, assignments, approvals, reporting | More expensive as your team grows |
| Sendible | White-label client reporting | $β$$ | Client portals, reports, agency workflow | LinkedIn depth is moderate |
| Buffer | Very small teams | $ | Simple, reliable scheduling | Too light for serious client management |
| Taplio | Personal-brand LinkedIn creators | $ | LinkedIn-specific writing + analytics | Not a full agency client-management platform |
postplanify.comwww.eclincher.com
My recommended stacks by agency size
1β5 clients (lean boutique agency)
Best stack:
- Metricool for reporting
- LinkedIn native scheduling for publishing
- Taplio or AuthoredUp for personal-brand content creation
Estimated spend: ~$50β150/month
Good if you are still personally reviewing every post and engagement.
5β15 clients (where most small agencies land)
Best stack:
- SocialPilot as the operating hub
- Metricool if clients demand polished reports
This is probably the sweet spot. SocialPilot is frequently positioned as a budget-friendly agency tool because it combines bulk scheduling, approvals, and reporting without enterprise pricing. postplanify.com
Estimated spend: ~$100β250/month
If engagement inbox is the core service
Choose:
- Agorapulse
It is stronger when you have a team replying to comments, assigning conversations, and tracking who handled what. postplanify.comwww.eclincher.com
Estimated spend: ~$100β300+/month
What I would avoid for a small agency
- Hootsuite β capable, but usually expensive relative to what a small LinkedIn-only agency needs.
- Sprout Social β excellent enterprise product, but hard to justify unless reporting/listening is a major paid deliverable.
- LinkedIn automation tools that auto-DM/connect at scale β they can create account-risk issues and are often unnecessary for content + engagement management. meet-lea.com
My practical recommendation
For a small agency today:
Best value setup:
SocialPilot + Metricool + Canva + a simple CRM (HubSpot free or Airtable)
If you mainly manage founders' personal LinkedIn profiles:
Taplio/AuthoredUp + Metricool + manual engagement process
If clients pay you specifically for βcommunity managementβ:
Agorapulse
If you tell me your number of clients, whether you manage personal profiles vs company pages, and your monthly software budget, I can narrow this to a specific stack.

Tracked brands mentioned
Answer 7 of 22, 18th Aug 2026, gpt-5-6, mentions 7 tracked brands
For a small agency focused heavily on LinkedIn, Iβd shortlist these three:
| Tool | Best for | Agency cost/value | LinkedIn posting | Engagement inbox | Client reporting |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metricool | Best overall value | βββββ | β | β οΈ Comments/DM capabilities vary | β PDF/PPT; stronger on Advanced |
| SocialPilot | Best agency workflow | βββββ | β | β Comments/mentions | β Advanced + white-label |
| Buffer | Cheapest/simple option | βββββ | β | β Comments | β οΈ Good analytics, less agency-oriented |
1. My pick: Metricool
For a budget-conscious agency, Metricool is probably the sweet spot.
Its Starter plan currently starts at $20/month, supports up to 5 brands at that price, includes LinkedIn, unlimited publishing, unlimited analytics history, and PDF/PPT reports. Advanced starts at $53/month and adds team/client management, approvals, customizable report templates, and Looker Studio integration. metricool.com
That makes it particularly attractive if you're managing, say, 3β10 clients and want to avoid paying enterprise-software prices.
I'd choose Metricool if: reporting is important and you want one inexpensive platform to grow into.
2. SocialPilot β probably the best pure agency tool
SocialPilot is arguably better than Metricool for an agency workflow.
The current Standard plan is $42.50/month billed annually for 15 social accounts and 3 users, including Social Inbox, analytics, collaboration and approvals. Premium is $85/month annually for 25 accounts, 6 users, advanced analytics, client approval and white-label reports. www.socialpilot.co
Its LinkedIn inbox specifically pulls questions, comments and mentions from multiple LinkedIn accounts into one dashboard, which is useful when you're managing several clients. www.socialpilot.co
I'd choose SocialPilot if: you have multiple people touching client accounts and want approvals/client collaboration built into the workflow.
3. Buffer β cheapest/easiest
Buffer is excellent if you want to keep the stack extremely lean.
Its pricing is per channel, starting at $5/month for one channel on Essentials, and Team is $10/month for one channel with unlimited team members and approval workflows. Buffer supports LinkedIn and has a unified comment inbox, including LinkedIn comments. buffer.com
The catch is that Buffer's inbox is primarily a comment-management inbox, not a full agency customer-service inbox. Buffer itself describes it as different from a more comprehensive unified inbox. buffer.com
I'd choose Buffer if: you're mostly scheduling posts + replying to comments and don't need sophisticated client reporting.
One important LinkedIn caveat
If by "engagement inbox" you mean LinkedIn Page comments/mentions, all three are worth considering.
If you mean actual LinkedIn Page DMs/messages, the field narrows considerably. LinkedIn's current Pages Messaging API officially lists Bird CRM, Brandwatch, Hootsuite, Oktopost, Sprinklr and Zoho as API partners for Page messaging. www.linkedin.com
So I wouldn't buy a cheap social scheduler assuming it will give you a complete LinkedIn DM inbox.
My ranking for your use case
If I were running the agency:
- π₯ Metricool β best balance of price + LinkedIn + reporting
- π₯ SocialPilot β best if agency collaboration/inbox is the priority
- π₯ Buffer β best if simplicity and minimum cost matter most
- Agorapulse β excellent product, but harder to justify on a tight budget; its Standard plan is currently $79/user/month annually, with higher tiers at $119 and $149. support.agorapulse.com
For a 3β5 client agency, I'd start with Metricool Starter. If you find yourself needing approvals, multiple team members, and polished recurring reports, move to Advanced rather than jumping to a much more expensive platform.
If you tell me how many clients, how many LinkedIn profiles/pages per client, and whether you need personal-profile posting or company-page posting, I can narrow this down to the cheapest setup that actually covers everything.

Tracked brands mentioned
Answer 8 of 22, 17th Aug 2026, gpt-5-6, mentions 6 tracked brands
For a small agency focused heavily on LinkedIn, Iβd narrow it to SocialPilot, Sendible, and Metricool. Iβd put Buffer in the βcheap/simpleβ category, but not first choice if engagement inbox + client reporting are core deliverables.
My ranking
| Tool | Best for | Posting | LinkedIn engagement | Client reporting | Agency value |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SocialPilot | π Best budget agency all-rounder | Excellent | Good | Excellent | βββββ |
| Sendible | Client-heavy agencies | Excellent | Good | Excellent | βββββ |
| Metricool | Analytics/reporting on a budget | Excellent | Basicβgood | Excellent | ββββΒ½ |
| Agorapulse | Best inbox/community management | Excellent | Excellent | Excellent | βββΒ½ |
| Buffer | Cheapest/simple setup | Excellent | Basic | Good | βββΒ½ |
1. π SocialPilot β probably your sweet spot
This is the one I'd test first for a small agency.
Its current pricing is unusually attractive: Standard is $34/month annually for 10 social accounts and 3 users, including bulk scheduling, a social inbox and analytics. Premium is $85/month annually for 20 accounts/6 users and adds client approval and white-label reports. www.socialpilot.co
That makes it particularly good if your workflow is:
client β create content β client approves β schedule LinkedIn β monitor engagement β send monthly report
The downside is that its inbox isn't as sophisticated as Agorapulse's. But for a small agency where margin matters, I'd take the tradeoff.
Best if: you're managing ~3β10 clients and don't want software eating a big chunk of each retainer.
2. Sendible β best if client reporting is a major selling point
Sendible is very agency-oriented. It uses separate workspaces for clients, includes unlimited users, supports LinkedIn publishing and comment replies, and has reporting built into the client workflow. www.sendible.com
It also supports custom-branded reports, scheduled emailed reports, live report sharing, approval workflows and client-specific workspaces. www.sendible.com
That's compelling if you're selling something like:
βWe manage your LinkedIn presence and give you a professional monthly performance report.β
The main catch is that pricing is based on workspaces, so I'd compare your actual number of clients against SocialPilot before choosing.
Best if: every client needs their own clean workspace/reporting experience.
3. Metricool β best bang-for-buck analytics
Metricool is particularly interesting if reporting/data matters more than having a killer engagement inbox.
Its agency plans currently include LinkedIn, PDF/PPT reports, unlimited publishing, competitor analysis, client/team management, approvals and customizable report templates. Advanced starts at $67/month and supports up to 15 brands; higher tiers go to 25 and 50 brands. metricool.com
I'd choose Metricool over SocialPilot if your monthly client report is a substantial part of the service.
Best if: you want clients to see impressive analytics without paying Sprout Social money.
4. Agorapulse β best actual inbox
If by βengagement inboxβ you mean we actually have people monitoring comments/messages all day, Agorapulse is probably the strongest option here.
Its Standard plan includes unlimited publishing, a centralized inbox for messages/comments and branded reports, at $79/user/month annually. Professional adds assignments and team performance reporting; Advanced adds saved replies, labels, moderation rules, bulk inbox actions and more advanced reporting. www.agorapulse.com
The problem is simply cost. Its per-user pricing gets painful for a small agency. support.agorapulse.com
Best if: engagement/community management is a significant part of what clients pay you for.
5. Buffer β cheapest, but I'd be cautious
Buffer is extremely inexpensive: Essentials starts at $5/channel/month annually, while Team is $10/channel/month and adds unlimited team members and approval workflows. It supports LinkedIn and has a community inbox. buffer.com
But there's an important distinction:
Buffer is primarily a great publishing tool that also has an inbox.
For an agency selling posting + engagement + client reporting as a package, I'd rather have SocialPilot or Sendible.
What I'd actually buy
If I were running a 2β4 person agency with ~5β10 LinkedIn clients, I'd do:
π₯ SocialPilot Premium β default choice
You get the combination of:
- LinkedIn publishing
- Bulk scheduling
- Engagement inbox
- Multiple users
- Client approvals
- White-label reporting
- Multi-client management
for $85/month annually at the current listed tier. www.socialpilot.co
If reporting is your differentiator:
β Metricool
If client workspaces + polished reports are the differentiator:
β Sendible
If community management/inbox is the differentiator:
β Agorapulse
If you're basically just scheduling LinkedIn posts:
β Buffer
One important LinkedIn caveat
I'd test the exact LinkedIn workflow you need before committingβespecially if you mean engagement with personal LinkedIn profiles, rather than LinkedIn Company Pages. LinkedIn's API permissions mean that βsupports LinkedInβ doesn't necessarily mean every type of personal-profile engagement or inbox interaction works the same way.
If you tell me how many clients you have, how many people on your team, and whether you're managing personal LinkedIn profiles or company pages, I can narrow this down to the cheapest setup that will actually work and calculate the monthly cost for each.

Answer 9 of 22, 16th Aug 2026, gpt-5-6, mentions 3 tracked brands
For a small agency focused on LinkedIn, Iβd shortlist these three:
| Tool | Best for | Approx. starting cost | LinkedIn posting | Engagement/inbox | Client reporting |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SocialPilot | Best overall agency value | $34/mo annual | β | β | β |
| Metricool | Best analytics/reporting | $20/mo | β | β οΈ More limited | β |
| Buffer | Cheapest/simple setup | $5/channel/mo | β | β οΈ Basic | β οΈ Basic |
π₯ My pick: SocialPilot
For what you described, SocialPilot is probably the sweet spot.
Its Standard plan is $34/month when billed annually and gives you 10 social accounts, 3 users, social inbox, analytics, team collaboration, approvals, PDF reports and LinkedIn support. www.socialpilot.co
If you're running the agency for multiple clients, I'd actually consider jumping to Premium at $85/month annually. It adds 20 accounts, 6 users, client seats, advanced analytics, client approval and white-label reports. www.socialpilot.co
That's unusually good value if you need to present reports under your agency's branding.
π₯ Metricool β best if reporting is the priority
Metricool is particularly attractive if clients care about polished performance reporting and analytics.
Its Starter plan starts around $20/month, supports up to 5 brands at that price, includes LinkedIn, unlimited publishing, PDF/PPT reports and unlimited analytics history. Advanced starts around $53/month and adds team/client management, roles, approval workflows and customizable report templates. metricool.com
The catch: I'd choose Metricool over SocialPilot primarily for analytics/reporting, not as my first choice if a sophisticated engagement inbox is central to your workflow.
π₯ Buffer β best if you're tiny
Buffer is extremely inexpensive: its Essentials plan starts at $5/month per channel when billed annually, with unlimited scheduled posts, analytics and a community inbox. Team is $10/channel/month and adds unlimited team members and approval workflows. LinkedIn is supported. buffer.com
The downside for an agency is the per-channel pricing. Once you have several clients Γ LinkedIn profiles, the apparent $5 price can add up, and its client/reporting functionality isn't as agency-oriented as SocialPilot.
What I'd do in your shoes
1β3 clients / mostly LinkedIn:
β Buffer if keeping software costs absolutely minimal is the priority.
3β10 clients / you need posting + inbox + approvals + reports:
β SocialPilot Standard is my recommendation.
10+ clients / you're selling reporting as part of the service:
β SocialPilot Premium or Metricool Advanced.
If LinkedIn is 80β100% of your agency's work, I'd lean SocialPilot because you get the agency workflow without paying enterprise-social-media-tool prices.
One important caveat: LinkedIn's API capabilities vary by account type and feature, so I'd test your exact workflowβespecially responding to comments/messages from the unified inboxβduring the trial rather than assuming every LinkedIn engagement function works identically to Facebook/Instagram.
If you tell me how many clients you have, how many LinkedIn profiles per client, and whether you manage personal profiles or company pages, I can calculate the cheapest setup and compare SocialPilot vs Metricool vs Buffer at your actual scale.

Tracked brands mentioned
Answer 10 of 22, 15th Aug 2026, gpt-5-6, mentions 5 tracked brands
For a small agency focused on LinkedIn, Iβd narrow it to SocialPilot, Metricool, and Vista Social. My pick depends heavily on how important the engagement inbox is.
| Tool | LinkedIn publishing | Engagement inbox | Client reporting | Agency features | Budget |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SocialPilot | β Strong | β Strong | β Strong | β Excellent | $β$$ |
| Metricool | β Strong | β Good | β Excellent | β Good | $ |
| Vista Social | β Strong | β Excellent | β Excellent | β Excellent | $$ |
| Agorapulse | β Excellent | β Excellent | β Excellent | β Excellent | $$$ |
| Buffer | β Excellent | β οΈ Less agency/inbox-oriented | β Good | β Good | $β$$ |
π₯ Best overall: SocialPilot
SocialPilot is probably the best fit for your specific requirements.
Its current Standard plan is $34/month when billed annually and includes 10 social accounts, 3 users, a social inbox, analytics, team collaboration and bulk scheduling. Premium is $85/month annually and adds 20 accounts, 6 users, client approval and white-label reports. LinkedIn is supported. www.socialpilot.co
Why I'd choose it for an agency:
- LinkedIn scheduling/publishing
- Unified inbox for comments/messages
- Client approvals
- Multiple users
- Good analytics
- White-label reporting at the agency tier
- Very reasonable cost as you add clients
Sweet spot: probably Premium at $85/mo if you're already managing several clients and want polished client reports.
π₯ Best value: Metricool
Metricool is particularly compelling if reporting is a major part of what you're selling.
Starter starts around $20/month, supports LinkedIn, unlimited publishing, PDF/PPT reports and up to 10 brands. Advanced starts around $53/month and adds team/client management, roles, approval workflows, customizable report templates and up to 50 brands depending on the tier. metricool.com
The catch: Metricool's inbox isn't the reason I'd buy it. It's strongest as a publishing + analytics/reporting platform.
So if your agency workflow is:
Create β schedule β measure β send beautiful monthly report
Metricool is arguably the best bargain.
π₯ Best inbox: Vista Social
Vista Social is worth a serious look if engagement/community management is central to your service.
Its Professional plan is $79/month monthly ($758/year), with 15 profiles and 3 users, and the platform combines publishing, approvals, engagement/DM management and reporting. Higher tiers increase profiles/users and add more sophisticated agency functionality. vistasocial.com
I'd pick Vista Social over SocialPilot if your agency spends a lot of time actually responding to comments/DMs, rather than primarily scheduling posts.
What I'd skip for a budget-conscious agency
Agorapulse is excellent, particularly for inbox + reporting, but its Standard plan is currently $99/month monthly or $79/month annually for one user and 10 profiles; additional users are charged separately. support.agorapulse.com
It's a great product, but I don't think the extra cost is justified for a small LinkedIn-focused agency unless community management is mission-critical.
Buffer is very good for simple publishing and has an agency offering with client management/reporting, but I'd favor SocialPilot or Metricool when your requirements explicitly include an engagement inbox + agency reporting. Buffer uses per-channel pricing rather than primarily charging by seats. buffer.com
My recommendation
If I were setting this up for a 5β15 client boutique agency, I'd do:
1. SocialPilot Premium β best all-rounder
Best combination of LinkedIn + inbox + approvals + reporting + price.
2. Metricool Advanced β best cheap option
Choose this if reporting/analytics matter more than sophisticated inbox management.
3. Vista Social Professional β best for engagement-heavy agencies
Choose this if you're managing lots of comments, DMs and community interactions.
4. Agorapulse β best premium option
Choose it when the agency can justify paying more for a mature inbox/reporting workflow.
One important caveat: LinkedIn's API capabilities mean that βengagement inboxβ doesn't necessarily mean identical functionality across every platform, particularly around personal-profile activity versus LinkedIn Pages. If your agency is managing founder/personal LinkedIn profiles rather than company Pages, I'd evaluate that specifically before committing.
If you tell me how many clients/profiles you manage (e.g. 5 clients Γ 1 LinkedIn profile each) and whether they're LinkedIn Pages, personal profiles, or both, I can narrow this down to the cheapest setup that actually covers your workflow.

Answer 11 of 22, 14th Aug 2026, gpt-5-6, mentions 4 tracked brands
For a small agency focused heavily on LinkedIn, Iβd narrow it to Metricool, Buffer, and Agorapulse. My pick for most agencies on a budget is Metricool.
My ranking
| Tool | Best for | LinkedIn posting | Engagement inbox | Client reporting | Budget |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metricool | β Best overall agency value | β | β Comments/mentions | β Excellent | $25β$67/mo |
| Buffer | Cheapest/simple workflow | β | β Comments | Good | $5β$10/channel/mo |
| Agorapulse | Best mature agency workflow | β | β Excellent | β Excellent | $79+/user/mo |
| Vista Social | More clients/team collaboration | β | β | β | $79+/mo |
1. π₯ Metricool β my recommendation
This is probably the sweet spot if you're running a lean agency with multiple clients.
- LinkedIn publishing for company pages and personal profiles
- LinkedIn comments/mentions in its Inbox
- Client/team management and permissions
- Post approval workflows on higher plans
- PDF/PPT reports
- Customizable report templates
- Up to 10 brands for $25/month on the current Starter pricing, or up to 15 brands for $67/month on Advanced; higher tiers go to 25/50 brands. metricool.comhelp.metricool.com
- Its Inbox specifically supports replying to LinkedIn comments and mentions; LinkedIn private messages aren't supported. help.metricool.comsupport.buffer.com
Why I'd choose it: You get scheduling + engagement + reporting + agency/client management without immediately jumping into $100+/month territory.
One caveat: Metricool's LinkedIn connection isn't available on the free plan. metricool.comhelp.metricool.com
2. π₯ Buffer β best if you're extremely price-sensitive
Buffer has gotten considerably better for LinkedIn.
It now supports:
- LinkedIn Pages and personal profiles
- Scheduling
- LinkedIn analytics
- Community inbox
- Replying to LinkedIn comments
- LinkedIn reactions from inside Buffer support.buffer.com
The big advantage is pricing. Buffer charges by channel rather than forcing you into a large agency package. Its current pricing starts around $5/month per channel for Essentials, with Team at $10/month per channel. buffer.com
But: reporting/client-management is less agency-centric than Metricool or Agorapulse. I'd choose Buffer if your agency primarily needs:
Schedule β monitor comments β reply β basic analytics
rather than elaborate client reporting.
3. π₯ Agorapulse β best if engagement is the heart of the service
Agorapulse is the more polished agency option.
Its Standard plan currently starts at $79/user/month annually and includes:
- Unlimited publishing
- Unified social inbox
- Messages/comments
- Basic reports
- Exportable branded reports
- 10 social profiles
Professional is $119/user/month annually and adds things like team workflows and team performance reporting. Advanced is $149/user/month and adds more sophisticated reporting, saved replies, moderation, bulk actions, etc. www.agorapulse.com
It's excellentβbut for a small agency trying to keep software costs down, I'd only pay the premium if you really need its deeper inbox/workflow functionality.
4. Vista Social β worth a look
Vista Social is interesting if you're growing beyond a handful of clients.
The Professional plan is currently $79/month for 15 profiles and 3 users, with Advanced at $149/month for 30 profiles/6 users. It includes scheduling, collaboration, reporting, and client/team-oriented functionality. vistasocial.com
I'd put it behind Metricool because Metricool's current pricing is particularly attractive for a lean agency.
What I'd actually buy
If I were setting up a 5β10 client LinkedIn agency today, I'd probably do:
Metricool Advanced β $67/month
and use it for:
Client LinkedIn accounts β scheduling β approvals β engagement β analytics β monthly reports
That gives you a pretty substantial agency stack for roughly $800/year, rather than spending several thousand dollars on an enterprise social platform. Metricool's Advanced tier includes team/client management, roles, approval workflows, customizable report templates, and API/Looker Studio connectivity. metricool.com
One important distinction
If by "engagement inbox" you mean LinkedIn comments and mentions, Metricool and Buffer are good fits.
If you mean actual LinkedIn DMs/private messages, that's different. Metricool explicitly doesn't support LinkedIn private messages in its Inbox. help.metricool.comsupport.buffer.com
So for a service offering like "we manage your LinkedIn presenceβincluding replying to prospects in DMs", I would not select a platform based solely on its social inbox.
Bottom line:
- π° Cheapest: Buffer
- π Best overall small-agency value: Metricool
- π¬ Best serious engagement workflow: Agorapulse
- π Best if you're scaling clients/team: Vista Social
- π― My pick: Metricool Advanced
If you tell me roughly how many clients you manage (e.g. 5, 10, 20) and whether you're managing personal LinkedIn profiles, company pages, or both, I can calculate the actual monthly cost of each option and tell you which is cheapest for your exact setup.

For a small agency managing LinkedIn posting + engagement inbox + client reporting on a budget, Iβd prioritize tools that handle multiple client workspaces, approvals, shared inboxes, and exportable reports rather than just scheduling. Many popular enterprise tools become expensive quickly. www.omnisocials.compostplanify.com
Here are the best fits:
| Tool | Best for | Approx. budget fit | Strengths | Weaknesses |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SocialPilot | Best overall value for small agencies | $$ | Multi-client management, scheduling, analytics, agency features | Inbox/engagement is not as deep as premium tools |
| Sendible | Client reporting + approvals | $$ | Strong white-label reports, client dashboards, approvals | Engagement workflows are good but not the absolute best |
| Agorapulse | Engagement inbox | $$$ | Excellent unified inbox, assignments, team workflows, reporting | Gets expensive as seats grow |
| Buffer | Solo/few-client setups | $ | Simple, easy, inexpensive | Limited agency workflows |
| Planable | Content approval process | $$ | Great client review experience and calendars | Less focused on inbox management |
| Metricool | Analytics-heavy agencies | $ | Good reporting/value ratio | Inbox features are lighter |
My shortlist by agency size
1β5 clients, trying to stay under ~$100/month
- SocialPilot β probably the best balance.
- Buffer + Google Looker Studio β cheapest workable stack.
- Metricool β good if reporting matters more than replying.
5β20 clients
- Sendible β strongest agency economics because reporting/client workflows matter.
- Agorapulse β choose this if replying to comments/messages is a major deliverable.
LinkedIn-heavy personal brand agency
- Consider separating tools:
- Scheduling/reporting: SocialPilot or Sendible
- Relationship management/outreach: a dedicated LinkedIn CRM tool (because social schedulers usually arenβt built for true LinkedIn relationship workflows).
What Iβd avoid for a small agency
- Sprout Social unless clients pay for it β excellent, but often overkill for small teams.
- Hootsuite if budget is your main constraint. It is powerful, but pricing tends to make more sense for larger organizations. www.techradar.com
My practical recommendation
For a boutique LinkedIn agency, Iβd start with:
Option A (lean stack):
- SocialPilot β scheduling + reports
- Slack/Teams β client communication
- Notion/Airtable β content pipeline
Option B (more professional client experience):
- Sendible β publishing + approvals + branded reporting
- Add a lightweight CRM for LinkedIn conversations
Option C (you manage lots of replies):
- Agorapulse β inbox-first workflow
A few questions would change the recommendation:
- How many LinkedIn accounts/clients are you managing now (5, 10, 50+)?
- Are you managing company pages, personal profiles, or both?
- Do clients need a white-label monthly report they can forward to executives?

For a small agency focused on LinkedIn, with posting + engagement inbox + client reporting and a real budget constraint, Iβd shortlist these:
| Tool | Best for | Inbox | LinkedIn posting | Client reporting | Budget verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SocialPilot | Best overall agency value | β | β | βββββ | Best pick |
| Metricool | Best analytics/value | β | β | ββββ | Excellent |
| Buffer | Cheapest/simple setup | β | β | βββ | Good if reporting is light |
| Agorapulse | Best engagement workflow | βββββ | β | βββββ | Great, but pricier |
| Vista Social | Broad agency features | β | β | ββββ | Worth testing |
π₯ My pick: SocialPilot
For your exact requirements, SocialPilot is probably the sweet spot.
Its current Standard plan is $50/month ($42.50 annual billing) for 15 social accounts and 3 users, including a social inbox, analytics, collaboration and approvals. The Premium plan is $100/month ($85 annual) for 25 accounts and 6 users, adding client approval workflows and white-label reports. www.socialpilot.co
That makes it particularly attractive if you're managing, say, 5β15 LinkedIn client profiles rather than hundreds.
It also specifically supports LinkedIn scheduling, bulk scheduling, LinkedIn analytics, social inbox and white-label PDF reports. www.socialpilot.co
I'd buy Premium if client reporting is part of what you're selling. The $85/month annual price is pretty reasonable for an agency tool.
π₯ Metricool β best if reporting matters more than inbox
Metricool is exceptionally good value for analytics. Its Starter tier currently starts around $20/month, supports LinkedIn, PDF/PPT reports and automated reporting; Advanced starts around $53/month and adds team/client management, approvals and customizable report templates. metricool.com
I'd choose Metricool if your workflow is:
create β schedule β monitor performance β generate polished monthly reports
rather than:
create β publish β have several people actively triage comments/DMs.
π₯ Buffer β cheapest way to get started
Buffer is much cheaper: paid channels start at $5/month per channel, with a free tier for up to three channels. It now has a community inbox, LinkedIn support, analytics and approval workflows on Team. www.socialpilot.cobuffer.com
The downside for an agency is the per-channel pricing model and less sophisticated client/reporting functionality. It's excellent if you have only a handful of clients and want something dead simple, but I'd expect you to outgrow it sooner.
Agorapulse β if engagement is the service
If your agency does a lot of comment/DM management, Agorapulse deserves serious consideration. Its unified inbox handles messages and organic comments, with assignment/workflow functionality and reporting. The Standard plan is currently $79/user/month ($99 monthly), so it gets expensive faster than SocialPilot. www.agorapulse.com
Its strength is really community management, rather than being the cheapest publishing/reporting platform.
What I'd do with a small agency
1β3 clients: Buffer or Metricool
4β15 clients: SocialPilot
15+ clients: SocialPilot vs. Vista Social, depending on workflow
Heavy comment/DM management: Agorapulse
Reporting is your biggest deliverable: Metricool
One important caveat: LinkedIn's capabilities differ between personal profiles and Company Pages, so I'd test your exact workflow before committingβespecially if you're managing executives' personal LinkedIn accounts rather than just company pages.
If you tell me roughly how many clients/profiles you manage (e.g. 5 clients Γ 2 LinkedIn profiles) and how many people are on your agency team, I can calculate the cheapest setup for SocialPilot vs Metricool vs Buffer vs Agorapulse.

If LinkedIn is the main channel and you need publishing + engagement/inbox + client reporting without Sprout-level pricing, Iβd shortlist these:
| Tool | Best for | Approx. starting cost | Inbox | Client reporting | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SocialPilot | π Best overall agency value | $85/mo annual | β | β | βββββ |
| Metricool | π Best analytics/value | $20β43+/mo annual | β | β οΈ | βββββ |
| Agorapulse | π Best engagement inbox | $79/user/mo annual | β | βββββ | ββββ |
| Sendible | Client workspaces/white-label | varies by plan | β | β | βββββ |
| Buffer | Cheapest/simple publishing | from ~$6/channel | β | Limited | βββ |
My pick: SocialPilot
For a small agency managing several clients, I'd probably start with SocialPilot Premium.
At the current annual price of $85/month, it gives you 25 social accounts, 6 users, bulk scheduling, advanced analytics, client approvals, and white-label reports. Its Standard plan is cheaper at $42.50/month annually and includes the social inbox, analytics and collaboration, but the agency-oriented reporting/approval features make Premium much more compelling. www.socialpilot.co
The big advantage is that you're not paying a separate seat fee every time you add a team member or client in the way some competitors do.
I'd choose it if your workflow is:
Client sends content β agency drafts/schedules β client approves β agency publishes β team handles comments/messages β automated branded report goes to client.
That's almost exactly the small-agency use case SocialPilot is targeting. www.socialpilot.co
Metricool is the value alternative
If reporting/analytics matters more than having a sophisticated engagement inbox, I'd seriously consider Metricool.
Its Starter plan starts around $20/month annually and supports LinkedIn, unlimited publishing, historical analytics, PDF/PPT reports and multiple brands. Advanced starts around $53/month annually and adds team/client management, permissions, approvals and customizable report templates. metricool.com
Metricool is particularly good if clients constantly ask:
- "How did LinkedIn perform this month?"
- "Which posts worked?"
- "How are we trending?"
- "Can you send me a branded report?"
Its agency reporting can generate customized reports and automatically deliver them to clients. metricool.com
Agorapulse if engagement is the core service
If by "engagement inbox" you mean your team spends substantial time replying to LinkedIn comments/messages and managing community interactions, I'd pay the premium for Agorapulse.
Its Standard plan is currently $79/user/month annually and includes unlimited publishing, a unified inbox for messages/comments, and branded reporting. www.agorapulse.com
The downside for a budget-conscious agency is the per-user pricing. If you have 3 employees actively using it, the economics deteriorate quickly.
What I'd actually do
1β5 clients:
Metricool if reporting is the priority; SocialPilot if workflow/inbox is more important.
5β20 clients:
SocialPilot Premium is probably the sweet spot.
Engagement/community management is a major deliverable:
Agorapulse.
Mostly scheduling LinkedIn posts and occasionally reporting:
Buffer β but I'd avoid it if you're trying to build a proper multi-client agency workflow. Buffer is excellent for straightforward scheduling, but the agency/client-management side isn't as strong. buffer.com
One important caveat: LinkedIn "inbox" capabilities vary substantially between tools and between LinkedIn profile vs. Company Page connections. Before buying, I'd test your exact LinkedIn setupβespecially whether you need DMs, comments, mentions, or all three.
Bottom line: I'd trial SocialPilot first, Metricool second. Those two give you the best chance of staying around $50β100/month while still having something that feels like an actual agency system rather than a $10 scheduler.

Tracked brands mentioned
Answer 15 of 22, 10th Aug 2026, gpt-5-6, mentions 4 tracked brands
For a small LinkedIn-focused agency on a budget, Iβd prioritize three things:
- Scheduling + approvals (multiple clients, content calendar)
- Engagement inbox (comments/messages without logging into every account)
- Client-ready reporting (white-label PDFs/dashboards)
The best fit depends on whether you manage company pages only or also personal LinkedIn profiles (founders/executives).
Best budget options
1. Best overall value: Metricool
Best for: small agencies managing several clients
Why it stands out:
- LinkedIn scheduling and analytics
- Multi-client workspace
- Automated client reports
- White-label reporting options
- Good balance of price vs agency features
Metricool specifically positions itself for agencies with customizable automated reports and LinkedIn management/reporting capabilities. business.linkedin.com
My fit rating for a small agency: βββββ
2. Best cheap/simple scheduler: Buffer
Best for: agencies that mainly need posting consistency
Pros:
- Very easy to use
- Affordable entry point
- Clean approval/content workflow
- Good for small teams
Cons:
- Engagement inbox and agency reporting are less robust than dedicated agency tools. www.techradar.com
Fit: βββββ
3. Best if engagement is the priority: Sprout Social
Best for: agencies handling lots of comments/messages
Pros:
- Strong social inbox
- Team workflows
- Analytics
- Approval systems
- Client reporting
Sprout supports LinkedIn publishing, engagement management, and analytics workflows. sproutsocial.com
Cons:
- Usually expensive for a small agency.
Fit: βββββ (great tool, often not budget-friendly)
4. Best βagency workflowβ alternative: Hootsuite
Best for: teams that need mature approvals and governance
Pros:
- Scheduling
- Monitoring
- Reporting
- Team permissions
Cons:
- Pricing can climb quickly as clients/accounts increase.
Fit: βββββ
My recommended small-agency stack
If you have 1β10 clients:
Metricool + Canva + Google Drive/Notion
- Metricool β scheduling, inbox, reporting
- Canva β graphics/carousels
- Notion/Drive β client approvals
If you mainly manage executivesβ personal LinkedIn:
Consider a LinkedIn-specific creator tool alongside a reporting platform. Many social schedulers are stronger with Company Pages than personal profiles.
If you need the cheapest workable setup:
Buffer + Google Looker Studio
- Lower monthly cost
- More manual reporting work
What I would choose
For a small agency trying to look professional to clients without spending enterprise money:
Start with Metricool. It is the closest match to βpost + manage engagement + send client reportsβ in one affordable system. business.linkedin.com
A couple of questions would change the recommendation:
- How many LinkedIn accounts/clients are you managing now (e.g., 5, 20, 50)?
- Are these company pages, personal founder profiles, or both?

If LinkedIn is the main channel and youβre a small agency trying to keep software costs down, Iβd narrow it to SocialPilot vs. Metricool.
My pick: SocialPilot
SocialPilot is probably the best fit for your exact combination of needs:
- LinkedIn publishing: scheduling, bulk scheduling, calendars, carousels, first comments, etc. www.socialpilot.co
- Engagement inbox: LinkedIn comments and mentions from multiple Pages in one inbox. You can reply, like, delete, tag/filter, and organize conversations. www.socialpilot.cohelp.socialpilot.co
- Client reporting: analytics, customizable reports, white-label PDFs, and automated report delivery. www.socialpilot.co
- Agency workflow: client approvals, team permissions, and collaboration are built in. www.socialpilot.co
- Price: the current Premium plan is $85/month when billed annually, with 20 social accounts and 6 users; Standard is $34/month but doesn't include the agency-oriented white-label reports/client approval features. www.socialpilot.co
One important caveat: SocialPilot's LinkedIn inbox is for LinkedIn Pages. LinkedIn DMs aren't supported in its inbox. www.socialpilot.cohelp.socialpilot.co
Runner-up: Metricool
Metricool is the one I'd choose if reporting/analytics matter more than sophisticated agency workflow.
Its Starter plan starts around $20/month, supports LinkedIn, includes PDF/PPT reports and automated monthly sending, and has a unified inbox that includes LinkedIn. Advanced starts around $53/month and adds team/client management, approvals, customizable report templates, and Looker Studio/API access. metricool.com
The tradeoff is that SocialPilot feels more purpose-built for running multiple clients, whereas Metricool is particularly attractive for analytics at a low price.
Quick comparison
| SocialPilot | Metricool | Buffer | Agorapulse | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LinkedIn scheduling | Excellent | Excellent | Excellent | Excellent |
| LinkedIn engagement | Excellent | Good | Good | Excellent |
| Client reporting | Excellent | Excellent | Basic | Excellent |
| Client approvals | Yes | Yes, Advanced | Yes, Team | Yes |
| White-label reporting | Yes | Yes, higher tier | No/limited | Yes |
| Agency-oriented | Yes | Yes | Less so | Yes |
| Budget friendliness | Very good | Excellent | Excellent | Poorer |
| Best for | Small agencies | Analytics/value | Simple publishing | Heavy community management |
Buffer is exceptionally inexpensive if you're mostly scheduling: its paid plans start at $5/month per channel, with a community inbox, analytics, and LinkedIn support. But I'd consider it more of a publisher than a complete client-management system for an agency. buffer.com
Agorapulse is excellent for inbox-heavy work and agency reporting, but its current Standard plan starts at $99/month monthly ($79/month annual) for one user and 10 profiles, making it harder to justify on a tight budget. support.agorapulse.com
What I'd actually do
1β3 clients: Metricool
4β10 clients: SocialPilot
Lots of daily comments/engagement: Agorapulse
Mostly scheduling and minimal reporting: Buffer
If you tell me how many clients/accounts you manage (e.g. 5 clients Γ 2 LinkedIn accounts) and your approximate monthly software budget ($30 / $50 / $100 / $150), I can work out the cheapest setup that still gives you publishing + inbox + polished client reports.

For a small agency managing LinkedIn posting + engagement inbox + client reporting on a budget, Iβd prioritize tools that do three things well:
- Multiple client workspaces/accounts
- Approval workflows
- Client-friendly reports without manual spreadsheets
My shortlist:
| Tool | Best for | Budget fit | Strengths | Weaknesses |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metricool | Best overall value for small agencies | βββββ | LinkedIn scheduling, analytics, reports, client management, approvals | Inbox/community management is not as deep as enterprise tools |
| Buffer | Simple posting workflows | βββββ | Easy scheduling, clean UI, affordable | Reporting and inbox features are lighter |
| SocialPilot | Agencies managing many clients | ββββ | Good client/team workflows, bulk scheduling, reports | Less polished UX |
| Sendible | Agency-style client management | ββββ | White-label reports, approvals, dashboards | Costs rise as you add clients |
| Sprout Social | Premium agencies | ββ | Excellent inbox, reporting, listening | Usually too expensive for small agencies |
business.linkedin.comhelp.metricool.com
My recommendation by agency size
1β5 clients: Metricool
This is probably where Iβd start. It covers the full loop:
- schedule LinkedIn posts
- monitor performance
- create client reports
- manage multiple brands
- handle approvals on higher plans
Metricool specifically supports LinkedIn scheduling/analytics and offers automated PDF/PPT reporting. business.linkedin.comhelp.metricool.com
A practical stack:
- Metricool β publishing + reporting
- Slack/Teams β client communication
- Canva β graphics
- Google Drive β content approvals
5β20 clients: SocialPilot or Sendible
If your agency is selling βwe manage your LinkedIn presence,β youβll care more about:
- client separation
- approvals
- team permissions
- repeatable reporting
If engagement inbox is the #1 priority
Look harder at:
They are stronger for unified inboxes and larger teams, but they can become expensive quickly. www.techradar.com
What I would avoid for a small agency
- Paying enterprise pricing before you have 10+ active clients
- Using a scheduler that cannot export good client reports
- Managing LinkedIn comments manually in each client account
My βunder $100/monthβ agency setup
A lean setup would be:
- Metricool β scheduling + analytics + reports metricool.com
- Canva β content creation
- Notion/Airtable β content calendar + approvals
- LinkedIn native inbox β deeper comment replies when needed
If you tell me how many clients you manage, whether they are personal LinkedIn profiles vs company pages, and your monthly budget, I can narrow it to the best 2β3 options.

If your agency primarily manages LinkedIn (posting, comments/DMs, and client reporting) and you want to keep costs down, I'd narrow it to these options:
| Tool | Best for | Approx. starting price | Inbox | Client Reports |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SocialPilot | Best overall budget value | ~$30/month | β | β White-label |
| Metricool | Analytics-heavy agencies | ~$25/month | Limited | β Excellent |
| Sendible | Small agencies needing client access | ~$29/month | β | β White-label |
| Agorapulse | Best engagement inbox | ~$79+/user/month | β Excellent | β Excellent |
| Buffer | Very small teams | Low cost | Basic | Basic |
Agency reviewers consistently rate SocialPilot and Sendible as the strongest value options, while Agorapulse is widely considered to have one of the best unified inboxes if your budget allows. www.eclincher.commeet-lea.com
My recommendation based on agency size
1β10 clients: SocialPilot
- Multi-client workspaces
- LinkedIn scheduling
- Unified social inbox
- Bulk scheduling
- White-label PDF reports
- Low monthly cost
This is probably the best balance of features versus price for a newer agency. www.eclincher.com
5β20 clients: Sendible
If reporting is a major selling point:
- Great client dashboards
- White-label reports
- Approval workflows
- Team collaboration
- Strong LinkedIn support
Many agencies choose it specifically because it feels built for client services rather than individual creators. www.eclincher.com
If engagement is your biggest pain: Agorapulse
Its strengths are:
- Shared inbox
- Assign comments/messages to team members
- Saved replies
- Internal notes
- Excellent reporting
If you're spending hours replying to LinkedIn comments, this can easily justify the higher price. www.eclincher.commeet-lea.com
If LinkedIn is 90% of your business
Many agencies pair two tools instead of trying to find one perfect platform:
- SocialPilot β publishing + reporting
- Taplio (or another LinkedIn-focused content tool) β content ideation and scheduling
- Native LinkedIn app β final engagement
That's often less expensive than paying for an enterprise platform while still getting LinkedIn-specific features. Community feedback also suggests creator-focused tools like Taplio are excellent for content but less suited to multi-client agency workflows. www.reddit.com
Budget-friendly stack I'd choose
If I were starting a small LinkedIn agency today:
- SocialPilot for scheduling, client management, and reports
- Canva Pro for graphics
- Google Drive for approvals
- Notion or ClickUp for content planning
That setup is capable of supporting 10β20 clients without the cost of premium tools like Sprout Social or Hootsuite.
If you can share:
- how many clients you have,
- whether you're posting only to LinkedIn or also Facebook/Instagram/X,
- and your monthly software budget (e.g. under $100, under $250, etc.),
I can recommend the most cost-effective stack for your specific agency.

If you're a small agency (2β10 people) and your priorities are:
- LinkedIn post scheduling
- A shared engagement inbox (comments/messages where supported)
- Client reporting
- Affordable pricing
then these are the strongest options.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| SocialPilot | βββββ | ββββ | βββββ | π° Excellent |
| Zoho Social | ββββ | ββββ | ββββ | π° Excellent |

| Buffer | βββββ | ββ | ββ | π° |
1. SocialPilot β Best overall value
If I were starting a small agency today, this would probably be my first choice.
Pros:
- Built with agencies in mind
- Multiple client workspaces
- Approval workflows
- White-label reports
- Bulk scheduling
- LinkedIn personal profiles and company pages
- Shared social inbox on higher plans
Pricing is considerably lower than enterprise tools like Sprout Social or Hootsuite while still including agency-focused features.postplanify.com

Pros:
- Good publishing calendar
- Team collaboration
- Client reporting
- Smart scheduling
- Integrates well if you already use Zoho CRM
Cons:
- Reporting isn't as polished as SocialPilot

If your budget is under roughly $50/month, it's one of the strongest values.www.techradar.com
3. Sendible β Agency favorite

- Approval workflows
Cons:
- Pricing increases quickly as your team grows because it's user-based.www.techradar.com
5. Buffer β Best if you mainly schedule
Buffer is fantastic if all you need is publishing.
Pros:
- Very clean interface
- Affordable
- Reliable scheduler
Cons:
- Limited agency reporting
- Limited inbox functionality
- Better for freelancers than agencies.www.techradar.com
One important LinkedIn limitation
No platform can fully manage every LinkedIn message, comment, or notification exactly like LinkedIn itself because the official API has restrictions. Be cautious of tools that rely on browser extensions or cookie-based automation, as those approaches can violate LinkedIn's terms and potentially put accounts at risk. Official API-based tools are generally the safer choice.www.reddit.com
My recommendations by budget
- Under $50/month: Zoho Social
- $50β100/month: SocialPilot (best overall value)
- $100β200/month: Sendible
- $200+/month: Agorapulse if engagement management is your highest priority
For most small B2B marketing agencies managing 10β30 LinkedIn accounts, SocialPilot tends to offer the best balance of scheduling, client approvals, reporting, and cost without moving into enterprise pricing.

If your primary focus is LinkedIn and you're a small agency (2β10 clients) on a budget, I'd narrow it to these options:
| Tool | LinkedIn Scheduling | Engagement Inbox | Client Reporting | Budget |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SocialPilot | βββββ | ββββ | βββββ | π° Excellent |
| Metricool | βββββ | βββ | βββββ | π° Excellent |
| Vista Social | βββββ | βββββ | ββββ | π° Very Good |
| Agorapulse | βββββ | βββββ | βββββ | πΈ More expensive |
| Buffer | ββββ | ββ | ββ | π° Cheap but limited |
1. SocialPilot β Best overall value
If I were starting a small agency today, this would probably be my first choice.
Pros:
- Manage multiple LinkedIn company and personal profiles
- Shared content calendar
- Client approval workflows
- Unified social inbox
- White-label PDF reports
- Bulk scheduling
- Team permissions
Cons:
- Inbox isn't quite as polished as Agorapulse.
- Analytics are solid but not enterprise-level.
Best for:
- Agencies with 5β30 clients wanting the most features per dollar. It's widely regarded as one of the strongest agency-focused values. zapier.com
2. Metricool β Best budget reporting
Metricool punches well above its price.
Pros:
- Excellent LinkedIn analytics
- Beautiful client reports
- Competitor tracking
- Website + Google Analytics integration
- Content planner
- Affordable pricing
Cons:
- Engagement inbox is more limited than dedicated social care tools.
Best for:
- Agencies where reporting is a bigger priority than community management. zapier.com
3. Vista Social β Best inbox on a budget
This has become popular with smaller agencies because it includes features that used to require premium tools.
Pros:
- Strong unified inbox
- Comment and message management
- Scheduling
- Team collaboration
- Approval workflows
- AI reply assistance
Cons:
- Reporting is good but not as polished as Metricool.
Best for:
- Agencies spending lots of time responding to comments and messages. zapier.com
4. Agorapulse β Best if client service is everything
Probably the best all-around platform.
Pros:
- Best-in-class social inbox
- Excellent LinkedIn support
- Great reporting
- Client permissions
- Workflow automation
Cons:
- Pricing climbs quickly as your team grows because it's user-based. www.techradar.com
5. Buffer β Good starter option
Simple and affordable.
Pros:
- Easy scheduling
- Clean interface
- Low cost
Cons:
- Weak engagement tools
- Limited reporting
- Not really designed for agencies
Best for:
- Freelancers with just a handful of clients. zapier.com
What I'd recommend based on your budget
Under $50/month
- Metricool
- Buffer (if you only need scheduling)
$50β100/month
- SocialPilot β Best overall value
- Vista Social
$100+/month
- Agorapulse
If LinkedIn is 80%+ of your work
I'd go with:
- SocialPilot β best balance of scheduling, inbox, approvals, and reporting.
- Vista Social β if engagement management is your biggest time sink.
- Metricool β if clients care most about polished reports and analytics.
One thing to keep in mind: LinkedIn's API limits what third-party tools can do with personal-profile messaging and some engagement features. Most platforms handle scheduling and analytics well, but the exact inbox capabilities vary depending on whether you're managing LinkedIn Pages or personal profiles. arxiv.org
If you can share:
- approximately how many clients you manage,
- whether you post mainly to LinkedIn Pages or personal profiles, and
- your monthly software budget,
I can recommend the most cost-effective setup for your specific agency.

If you're a small agency (2β10 people) managing LinkedIn for clients and you need:
- β Schedule posts
- β Manage comments/DMs from one inbox
- β Client approvals
- β Automated client reports
- β Affordable pricing
I'd narrow it down to these.
| Tool | Best for | Starts around | Inbox | Reporting | Agency features |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SocialPilot | Best value overall | ~$30β50/mo | β | β White-label | Client access, approvals |
| Metricool | Budget agencies | ~$22β50/mo | Limited | Excellent PDFs | Multi-brand management |
| Agorapulse | Best inbox | ~$79+/user/mo | Excellent | Excellent | Built for agencies |
| Buffer | Simplicity | ~$36+/mo | Basic | Basic | Easy to learn |
| Publer | Lowest cost | ~$12β24/mo | Limited | Good | Great scheduler |
My recommendation by budget
Under $50/month
Metricool
Pros
- Excellent LinkedIn scheduling
- Easy client reports (PDFs)
- Multi-brand management
- Analytics are surprisingly good
- Affordable for several clients
Cons
- Engagement inbox isn't as strong as Agorapulse
- Approval workflows are fairly basic
Best for agencies with 5β15 clients that mainly publish content. magicpost.in
Around $50/month
SocialPilot (my favorite value)
Pros
- Multiple client workspaces
- Content approvals
- Team collaboration
- Analytics
- White-label reports
- Supports LinkedIn Company Pages
Cons
- Inbox is solid but not as advanced as Agorapulse.
For most small agencies, this hits the best balance between price and features.
If engagement is a major part of your service
Agorapulse
This has one of the strongest unified inbox experiences.
You can:
- reply to comments
- assign conversations
- track who replied
- manage multiple brands
- generate polished reports
It's agency-focused, but pricing climbs once you add team members because it's per user. www.techradar.com
If you mainly manage personal LinkedIn creators
Most social media tools are better with LinkedIn Company Pages than individual creator profiles.
If your agency manages founders and executives, consider pairing a scheduler with a creator-focused tool like:
- Taplio for content ideation
- AuthoredUp for drafting and formatting
These aren't full agency management suites but are strong for personal-brand content.
A stack I'd build today for under $100/month
- Metricool β scheduling, analytics, reports
- Notion β content calendar
- Canva Pro β graphics
- Google Drive β client assets
Total: roughly $50β80/month, depending on plan choices.
My overall ranking
- π₯ SocialPilot β best overall value
- π₯ Metricool β best on a tight budget
- π₯ Agorapulse β best if engagement and inbox management are core services
- Buffer β easiest to use
- Publer β cheapest capable option
If your agency manages 10+ LinkedIn clients, tell me:
- approximately how many clients you have,
- whether they're mostly Company Pages or personal profiles, and
- whether you also manage Instagram/Facebook/X.
That changes which platform gives the best value.

Answer 22 of 22, 7th Aug 2026, gpt-5-5, mentions 5 tracked brands
If you're a small agency (2β10 people) and your priorities are:
- LinkedIn post scheduling
- A shared engagement inbox (comments, DMs where supported)
- Client reporting
- Affordable pricing
then I'd narrow it down to these options:
| Software | Best For | Starting Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| SocialPilot | Best overall budget | ~$30β50/mo | Excellent value for agencies, client management, reporting, approvals. www.cloudcampaign.com |
| Metricool | Best reporting | ~$22β45/mo | Strong branded reports and analytics, easy scheduling. demandbird.com |
| Vista Social | Best all-around value | ~$39β79/mo | Great inbox, approvals, reporting, agency features. www.cloudcampaign.com |
| Agorapulse | Best premium choice | ~$79+/user/mo | Excellent inbox and reports, but pricing climbs quickly. www.techradar.com |
| Buffer | Simplest | Low cost | Fantastic scheduler, but limited reporting and agency workflows. |
My recommendation
Option 1: SocialPilot (best value)
For most small agencies, this hits the sweet spot.
Pros:
- Multiple client workspaces
- LinkedIn scheduling
- Content approvals
- White-label reports
- Team collaboration
- Affordable as you add clients
Cons:
- Inbox isn't as polished as Agorapulse.
- Analytics are solid but not the deepest.
Option 2: Vista Social
If engagement is a big part of your service, I'd actually lean toward Vista Social.
You get:
- Unified inbox
- Respond to comments/messages (where platform APIs allow)
- Social listening
- Client approval workflows
- Strong reporting
It's becoming a favorite among smaller agencies because it includes features that often require enterprise plans elsewhere. www.cloudcampaign.com
Option 3: Metricool
If your clients care most about monthly reports:
- Beautiful branded PDFs
- Organic + paid reporting
- Website analytics
- Google Analytics integration
- Very inexpensive
The inbox isn't as strong as Vista Social, but reporting is excellent for the price. demandbird.com
About the LinkedIn inbox
One important limitation: LinkedIn's API does not let third-party tools manage every type of LinkedIn message and interaction. Most platforms can manage comments and company page engagement, but personal LinkedIn DMs are much more restricted. If your agency manages executives' personal profiles, expect to use LinkedIn itself for some messaging tasks.
What I'd buy today
If I were starting a 5β20 client agency:
- SocialPilot if budget is the priority.
- Vista Social if engagement management is a core service.
- Agorapulse once recurring revenue justifies spending more for its polished inbox and reporting. www.techradar.com
If your agency primarily manages personal LinkedIn profiles (thought leadership) rather than company pages, I can also recommend tools specifically optimized for creator workflows, approvals, and analytics, since those differ from traditional social media management platforms.
